Transatlantic Agreement

Publicado el 13/4/2021

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) is an ambitious, comprehensive and quality trade and investment agreement negotiated between the United States and the European Union (EU). The T-TIP will help provide opportunities for American families, workers, businesses, farmers and herders by improving access to European markets for goods and services made in America. This will help promote U.S. international competitiveness, jobs and growth. Nevertheless, the president`s leadership is essential to the success of all trade negotiations and the subsequent adoption of agreements by Congress. This is especially true when, as in the United States, there is a deep partisan divide in trade policy and trade agreements. In particular, major Democratic Party districts, such as unions and environmental organizations, strongly oppose so-called NAFTA trade agreements and put a lot of pressure on congressional Democrats to vote against them. On the other hand, congressional Republicans can generally be seen as supporters of free trade agreements (ATFs). The economies of the United States and the EU are two of the most modern, developed and committed to high standards of consumer protection in the world.

T-TIP aims to strengthen these already strong relationships in a way that will help boost economic growth and increase the more than 13 million jobs in the United States and the EU, already supported by transatlantic trade and investment. T-TIP will be a state-of-the-art agreement that aims to ensure greater compatibility and transparency in trade and investment regulation, while maintaining a high level of health, safety and environmental protection. T-TIP offers an exceptional opportunity to strengthen ties between key strategic and economic partners. In the European Union, the free movement of goods and services is something that we take for granted. But those who want to export goods to the United States, offer services or make an investment still have to overcome a whole series of bureaucratic hurdles. Tariffs and overlapping licensing procedures. B, for example, cars or medical care, cost unnecessary money to consumers on both sides of the Atlantic. All that is going to change. The aim is to remove barriers to transatlantic trade and to further open markets on both sides of the Atlantic. Chapter IV, Articles 24-28, would allow the free movement of business leaders and other employees of a temporary work enterprise between all contracting states. [42] However, Article 1, paragraph 2, makes it clear that the free movement of workers and citizens is no longer permitted.
